PSC Summerfest 2024
The Professional Staff Caucus is the voice of professional staff on campus. You can find professional staff fulfilling diverse roles on campus: student support, academic support, instructional support, and computing and technology, just to name a few. We are staff assistants and staff associates, directors, coordinators, advisors, programmers, analysts, managers, and mentors. We are colleagues in support of the academic mission of Buffalo State.
History
The Professional Staff Caucus at SUNY Buffalo State was established in 1992 as the mechanism for electing professionals to the College Senate and other representative bodies. The original executive board consisted of Maurine Baker-Stein, Thomas Peffer, Gwendolyn (Wooten) Viera, Paul Bink, Donald Brennan, Carole Harris, Paul Andruczyk, Roslyn Berkovitz, John Frederick, and Sam LoGiudice. Former Chairpersons of PSC include Maurine Baker (Baker-Stein), John Frederick, Ottilie Woodruff, Josie Adamo, Kelly Boos, and Abdi Hajikandi.
Purpose
The purpose of the organization is to unite those designated as “Professional Employees” as defined by the Policies of the Board of Trustees for the State University of New York (current edition); provide an open forum for discussion of issues relevant to the Professional employee; provide a single structure wherein all Professional employees are recognized; elect and/or select Professional employees as requested for representation to/on other committees or organizations.
2024-2025 Goals
The PSC Executive Committee is dedicated to representing professional staff across campus and making a concerted effort to address their concerns, needs, and suggestions. To that end, we are being guided by the following goals for the 2024-25 academic year:
- Increase Professional Staff Caucus strategic impact
- Increase PSC awareness and opportunities
- Foster community, collaboration and communication within and outside of PSC
