Professional staff at Buffalo State play an important role in the personal and professional growth and development of our students, and contribute greatly to our campus culture. Our work makes a difference in retention and graduation of students, regardless of the positions we hold on campus. It is truly an honor to serve as the Chair of the Professional Staff Caucus (PSC), representing our professionals and advocating on their behalf.
Many of my professional colleagues are actively involved on campus and serve on various committees. I encourage my colleagues to continue to get involved in greater numbers to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students. Participate in Professional Staff Caucus General Meetings and activities and serve in various capacities. Consider running for positions in the College Senate and/or serving on committees across campus that also include faculty and students. It is important for us to get out of our comfort zones and meet others on campus. We want to eliminate silos and create an environment of sharing and collaboration. The more we learn about each other and the work we all do, the greater positive impact we will have on our campus. The connections I have made with various constituents have been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my job here at Buffalo State. I owe my growth as a professional to the relationships I have built with faculty, staff, and students over the years.
I invite our professional employees to reach out to me or any of the College Senators representing professionals (listed in the Directory of PSC Website) if there are any questions or concerns that need to be brought to the attention of members of the College Administration. It is important to share what is working, to raise issues and concerns we have that hampers our abilities to function effectively, and to be at the forefront of offering solutions to create a greater campus climate for us all.
Keep up the great work of transforming lives, one life at a time! Together, we play a significant role in fulfilling the Mission, Vision, and Values of Buffalo State.
